Stay at Home Blooz

I think you missed a spot over here! 

PATTY:  So Daffy is having just the greatest time now that she has two full-time servants 24-7.  She seems very happy with the service and the attention.  She is so happy, in fact, that she sometimes forgets to eat.

As you can see, I was sewing on the binding for the quilt I made in February and she plopped right down in the middle of it to inspect my work.  Look at her!  She OWNS it, right?

DAFFY:  Absolutely, I own everything.  Keep up the good work and don't forget the Temptations.

Isolation Blues!

Here I am hard at work in the fort keeping guard!  Phew!

DAFFY:  Okay, I'm not used to having the pawrents around all day, all night, all the time!  They have masks, they have gloves, and I have never heard so much jibber jabber about toilet paper in my whole life.  A crisis like this always demonstrates quite clearly the inferiority of the species.  So many acoutrements are necessary for their upkeep!  I'm relieved to be in the fort keeping watch over the yard in case any virus-laden squirrels or critters try to claw their way into our isolation chamber.  This is hard, hard work!

PATTY:  You just better hope that your chewy.com order is delivered soon or we'll see whose "acoutrements" are so important. 

Excuse me, but I am off-duty now.  Leave me alone!  I am self-isolating.

Hope everyone is in a good situation to be safe!  I won't preach but this whole situation could have been prevented and it makes me very, very angry that people are losing their lives.  xoxo

PATTY:  February is almost gone and this year we have the extra day to deal with.  What will you do on the 29th? 

DAFFY:  Same as I do every day . . . just layin' around lookin' purrity.

Remodel Blues

If I can't have quiet, then I must have comfy.

PATTY:  We are having a remodel here and it's never pleasant with all the dust and crud and noise and whatnot. 

DAFFY:  Things just aren't in the right place. 

PATTY:  I know.  I'm so glad I invited you to come into the basement sewing room with me.  You are such a lovely sewing companion! 

DAFFY:  Well, I really like napping on the couch.  It is very comfy, although a little messy.

PATTY:  True.  I am rather exuberant with the fabric.  So, let's wish everyone a happy February and hope they are not having as much snow and ice as we have been getting!   xoxo

Bush Fires!

DAFFY:  I am very upset that a billion animals have died in the Australian bush fires so far!  Lots of those could be kitties along with koalas and kangaroos and many more that I haven't learned about so far.  We want to do something. Patty, can you lend me $2,750 to fly there?  Maybe I could stay with one of your New South Wales friends.

Okay, I'm ready to go!

 PATTY:  Well, first of all I don't think they will let you into the country without me since they don't issue passports to kitties (very unsophisticated, I know, but a fact) and I just don't have a spare $5,400 right now.  However, I do have sewing skills, so I'm planning to make Joey Pouches to help the animals who have survived (some barely).

DAFFY:  Your fabric stash is enormous, so you can probably make a lot of those!

Daffy, are you looking forward to the New Year?

 PATTY:  Only a few more days until a new year, which to you means little, I'm sure.  Every day is the same for you:  sleep, eat, complain, poop, pee, groom.

DAFFY:  You are so wrong!  I am acutely aware of what is happening in the human world which is why I often look like this:

Daffy's plan for 2020:  Make believe it isn't happening.

The past three years have been rough and I'm hoping for some positive change in 2020.  I would like more peace, more understanding and sympathy, more prosperity for workers, more Temptations and Fancy Feast Broths.  I would definitely like less human violence and hatred, less plastic and throw-away, less divisiveness, less ageism and sexism, and way less homelessness for both humans, cats, and dogs! 

PATTY:  Sounds like a purresidential platform! 

DAFFY:  I wish!  Anyway, Happy Noo Year to effuryone!  xoxo

December Babies

She slept through her birthday!

PATTY:  It occurred to me that everyone who lives in this house now was born in December!  Daffy missed her birthday, which is either December 3rd or December 13th.  In any case, if it was the 3rd, she was sleeping; if it is today, she is sleeping.  Not a party girl!

By the way, she loves the green knitted scarf at the top of the photo.  It is apparently soft and mushy enough to be the perfect kneading implement.  She goes to another planet when she's kneading that thing!  Honestly, totally in a state of bliss.  And then she snoozes on her quilt.

My Purrmanent Furrend

Daffy's keeping watch over my stitching.

PATTY:  We were on vacation for a week and Daffy really missed us.  She was so happy to see us when we got home and, of course, got right back into her routine of three different foods plus treats whenever she wants.   

DAFFY:  I'm so glad you're home again!  I was lonely.

Whenever I try to hand-sew the binding on a quilt, Daffy figures it's a new quilt for her and she gets right on it and purrs and purrs!  She is very contented; so happy we are home.  She's a very good quilting companion, too, because when she thinks my stitching is getting too big, she puts out her paw and looks at me.

Sun Day

It Fits!

PATTY:  I bought a new shirt this morning and put it on the bed before hanging it up.  Daffy was  on it immediately!! 

DAFFY:  It's the purrfect size and the purrfect color for me, doncha think?

Prissy Puss

Good morning! 

PATTY:   The last time we were at the vet, she described Daffy as being "a little bit prissy."  Is this what she means?  See the crossed paws?  I don't know; I think this makes her beautiful and why we love her so much. 

Anyway, she's got to go in for grooming again.  We brush and comb her every day, but the shedding is more than we can keep up with.  Do you have secrets to keeping your kitty mat-free?  Share them, please!

Also, she's going to have dental work (which I can't wait to find out how much THAT is going to cost!), but I remember when Bhu had his dental work.  He was 100% more happy and loving.  Being a himalayan he had bad teeth from the start, but we got him before feline veterinary dentistry became available here.  Daffy's dental issues are not as critical as Bhu's, thank goodness.

August Daze

Oh, hi! 

PATTY:  As you may have suspected by now, Daffy spends 20 hours on the bed and 4 hours begging for food and eating it.  She prefers a bed that has an assortment of acoutrements (pardon my French) such as games, books, cast-off jammies, etc.  These items serve as "pillows" for her pretty little head.  It's wonderful to watch her sleep; she's so beautiful.   Here she is with one of Sabryin's new games.  We have to be careful, though, because she loves to exercise her fangs on paper, boxes, books, and the like.
