Happy 2nd Purrthday, Goma!

We LUV Goma and Sachie and we hope you will go to My Cat Goma and wish him a happy day! Sachie has a really neat give-away to celebrate Goma's special day: a t-shirt of her own design. It's pretty cool!

"Goma iz laik my little bruther," sez Bhu. Well, actually, Bhu, your little brother Winston and sister Thatcher live in Nashville now. We haven't heard from them in a long time. But I think they would like Goma and want him to be their little brother, too.

HAPPY PURRTHDAY GOMA!!

Day after election Blues

Well, unfortunately Goma's fantastic, almost perfect campaign promises of Cheezburgers for ALL did not glean the votes required to be elected Purresident. Bummer! Oh well, there's always 2012.

About the holly bushes: Yes, there are male and female bushes and you don't get berries unless you have both. The nursery people will tell you it takes one male for every three or four females (isn't that always the way?), and my male must have been particularly active this summer!!! Actually, I remember there were lots of bees this spring and I was very excited about that because they are, of course, the pollinators.

Octopuss

So Bhu has had quite a month! First, we thought he was going to die and then he literally bounced back and had his 11th birthday and now he is running around the house, jumping on the bed to visit us, and climbing down into the basement to help me quilt. We still don't know what caused his pain, but we know we can't stand the thought of losing him! Love this boy!! Love him LOTS!
And then, just so you know I haven't slacked off that much, I did finish the second Amy Butler fabrics quilt. I think I might like this one better than the first. I have nine print football shapes left and I'm thinking I will create patchwork background strips for the next one. I can't decide, however, if I want to use strips from the Charm or Midwest Modern line. Also, I'm fascinated with and inspired by Sachi Tani's designs and would love to make a fiber version of at least one of them.

Homecoming today! Some silly TV star is in the Parade. The University is too lame to get Brad Pitt. I shouldn't be so critical. They do the best they can (NOT because they haven't got a clue what "best" is). Oooooo, I'm just MEAN today! Hasta la vista, babies! xxoo Patty

OMG! Goma Comix!

I have been so sick and I went to Goma's blog and there is the cutest comic that Sachie has created! It was like a Get Well card for me! Yes, I am so very self-centered. Go there and enjoy! Sachie is so talented; I think she could publish children's books about Goma's adventures and greeting cards, too, to bring cheer into people's lives!
Madonna lilies blooming in the yard. Gorgeous, big stands of them! I can see them from the window.

Goma Stars in Music Video!

You really have to see this cuz it's supah CUTE! Click here to see Goma starring in The Smittens music video! Can I has ur paw-tograph, Goma?
Bhu is hoping we will take him to the library this afternoon, so he's camping out on the book bag. He's thinking someone there might want him to be in a video, and he can be a star like Goma!

In honor of Goma and his first starring role, I am sharing this photo of the Shimmering Stars quilt I made several years ago for Meg. I used 1800's reproduction fabrics and it's one of my favorites. xxooo P

Flying Burrito Brothers!

Bhu is napping peacefully, dreaming of boidz and bugz and suddenly there is a commotion under the table!
It's the HUMAN BURRITO! "Yikes!! What is happening?? I go look!" I made a cover for our 3" memory foam mattress pad but was having a bit of difficulty getting the pad into the cover. Mark, always the hero, decided he would be more successful at manipulating the cloth and the foam if he burrowed in. This is typically Bhu's schtick (he will burrow into ANYTHING), so he's wondering how he missed out on this fun! I love the fabric (from the stash, purchased in the 80's . . . a gorgeous batik).

Today, we all wish Sachie HAPPY BIRTHDAY (singing very loudly and clapping YAY)! xxoo P

First BBQ Big Success!

We stoked up the grill today for the first time this season and here you can see a plate of sirloin tip burgers and brats. Making your mouth water?? Although these look dry, they were unbelievably juicy. Some say "use chuck" for the best burgers.
Guess it depends on whether you want them to taste good or squirt all over you! I like mine well done with only ice cold Claussen Kosher pickle slices. Mark adds the kitchen sink (catsup, mustard, mayo, pickles, cheese and sprouts if we have them).
Today was the first live Goma Show featuring Sachie. It was really fun! Bhu watched for a bit but then wondered why we weren't paying attention to him. Throughout it all, he maintained his dignity and tried not to show any jealousy.
Went to the eye doctor Thursday and my eyes are getting better. Huh?? Just checking, but are frames $300 to $800 where you live? Our insurance pays up to $130 for frames if they are purchased in network; only $47 if out of network. So I think the last time I saw a pair of frames for $130 was in the 20th century. Frames are WAAAAYYY ugly now, too. Think I'm gonna dig around and try to find my old '60's gold wire rims. Oh, BTW, red rims, ala Sally Jesse, are making a comeback.

Well, darlings, Earth Day is tomorrow! Also, Happy Birthday Scott!! Happy Birthday Dawtah Dearist! xxooo smootchy smootchy PSP

What the HAIL?????

Okay, this is what my daffodils looked like this morning. There are similar clusters of daffodils all over the yard and they are so pretty. Something told me to take photos this morning before I went to work. These guys need to be dug up and separated this summer so the blooms will be bigger next summer. BUT, here's what happened five minutes ago:

Looks like snow, but it's pea-sized hail! About an inch of it! Can't imagine what the daffodils must look like now. It's ALWAYS SOMTHIN' around here!!! Yikes!
But I did get a couple of packages yesterday! Midwest Modern fat quarters (18 are still on back-order) and half-yards of Posh. WHEEEEEEE! Betty Dippi sent me an Amy Butler quilt pattern she found in a magazine and I think it's very timely! I'm going to start working on that this weekend while I'm finishing up Kyle's quilt. I really need a break from black & blue, so I'll do the Amy blocks as thread-savers. I'm not a big the-person Amy fan, but I do like the fabrics and I think I'm really lucky to have so many of the original Charm prints -- stuff that is now out of print.

Don't tell Bhu, but Goma now has GomaCam! Also, you've GOT to watch Goma eat his birthday cake!! TOO CUTE! Love you GOMA!

Goma's 1st Birthday!

Bhu might be jealous, but I'm in love with Goma and it's his first birthday. The person who runs his website has GOT to be a tenured professor of CUTEOLOGY!
