Lots of those could be kitties along with koalas and kangaroos and many more that I haven't learned about so far. We want to do something. Patty, can you lend me $2,750 to fly there? Maybe I could stay with one of your New South Wales friends.
However, I do have sewing skills, so I'm planning to make Joey Pouches to help the animals who have survived (some barely).

DAFFY: Your fabric stash is enormous, so you can probably make a lot of those!
The past three years have been rough and I'm hoping for some positive change in 2020. I would like more peace, more understanding and sympathy, more prosperity for workers, more Temptations and Fancy Feast Broths. I would definitely like less human violence and hatred, less plastic and throw-away, less divisiveness, less ageism and sexism, and way less homelessness for both humans, cats, and dogs!

PATTY: Sounds like a purresidential platform!
PATTY: It occurred to me that everyone who lives in this house now was born in December! Daffy missed her birthday, which is either December 3rd or December 13th. In any case, if it was the 3rd, she was sleeping; if it is today, she is sleeping. Not a party girl!

By the way, she loves the green knitted scarf at the top of the photo. It is apparently soft and mushy enough to be the perfect kneading implement. She goes to another planet when she's kneading that thing! Honestly, totally in a state of bliss. And then she snoozes on her quilt.

Good morning!

PATTY: The last time we were at the vet, she described Daffy as being "a little bit prissy." Is this what she means? See the crossed paws? I don't know; I think this makes her beautiful and why we love her so much.

Anyway, she's got to go in for grooming again. We brush and comb her every day, but the shedding is more than we can keep up with. Do you have secrets to keeping your kitty mat-free? Share them, please!

Also, she's going to have dental work (which I can't wait to find out how much THAT is going to cost!), but I remember when Bhu had his dental work. He was 100% more happy and loving. Being a himalayan he had bad teeth from the start, but we got him before feline veterinary dentistry became available here. Daffy's dental issues are not as critical as Bhu's, thank goodness.

Hope you have a great Thursday! xoxoPattyskypantshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17799925854647672151noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169722852232189496.post-10309053834540853992019-08-06T05:50:00.000-07:002019-08-06T05:50:22.931-07:00August Daze

PATTY: As you may have suspected by now, Daffy spends 20 hours on the bed and 4 hours begging for food and eating it. She prefers a bed that has an assortment of acoutrements (pardon my French) such as games, books, cast-off jammies, etc. These items serve as "pillows" for her pretty little head. It's wonderful to watch her sleep; she's so beautiful. Here she is with one of Sabryin's new games. We have to be careful, though, because she loves to exercise her fangs on paper, boxes, books, and the like.
Thanks to Ann of Zoolatry for this graphic, reminding us that this chaotic weather is causing problems for our beloved pets. I'm happy to report that our first responders rescue pets as well as people and often the animals who are separated from their families wind up in the shelters. Their people might be physically or psychologically injured . . . totally traumatized by the loss of "everything." They might assume their pet is dead. So it's a good time to remember to support the animal shelters and rescues where these weather tragedies happen.
Before the clothes were folded and put away and the bed made, Daffy imagined she was the Empress. We can all dream, right?

Daffy has been with us for two years now and we are all growing closer (although she still bites when she gets too much affection).

The other night we had tornadoes, sirens going off everywhere. Tornadoes to the north, tornadoes to the south, and always some to the west. So we all hauled ourselves down to the basement. She isn't normally allowed in the basement, so Sab had to pick her up and carry her down. Bhu HATED the basement and he would never go down there. In fact, when the sirens went off, we would take him down there and he would run back up the stairs and sit at the door. Our basement is comfy: it's plumbed and wired and there's food and water and even a litter box!

But Daffy did really well! We turned on the TV so we could watch the weather casts as they tracked the storms and she laid down on the carpet all spread out like some regal princess oblivious to the chaos just a few feet away on the other side of the wall. Then she even climbed up on the couch to sit with Sab and eventually went to the easy chair in front of the TV. She was very happy to be with us!

We hope you are all safe and dry! xoxo
PATTY: This month I've been having a lot of medical adventures from experimenting with new medicines to enduring yet another sleep study this week. I can't sleep in hospitals (unless anesthesia is involved, and I don't consider that to be "sleep"); I can barely sleep in my own bed! Each one of the wires in this photo was attached to my body, including my head. Those on my head were glued on with goop-I-don't-even-know-what-it-was, so all the hair on my head, except for the ponytail, was gooped up. Fortunately, I brought a hat for the morning trip home.
Daffy seems to be able to sleep anywhere, any time, any place. She's laying on her special scarf (which started out as a cowl for me). The wool is really spongey and the texture of the knit pattern is such that she likes to knead it as if she was a little kitten again. She gets this blissful look on her face and she kneads away; so happy. It's nice and warm for her, too.

So, who's sick of winter already? Raise hands! ME! I want to be a snowbird. I want to leave this cold, snowy Minnesota-like land and go somewhere warm from December to March. How can I do that and where would I go?

In the meantime, stay warm and dry. xoxoPattyskypantshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17799925854647672151noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169722852232189496.post-58693755913588973192019-01-01T12:11:00.001-08:002019-01-01T12:11:06.129-08:00We made it!

PATTY: Frankly, we're happy to be done with 2018. The good things were the garden, visiting my sister, quitting my job, and finding doctors in whom I have some confidence. The bad things were -- well, I'll keep those to myself because why spread the pain, right?

DAFFY: I'm glad my butt furs are growing back so I don't have to face the new year in total humiliation.

PATTY: Well, I'm not gonna ask you if you have any resolutions because I can imagine they cover the subjects of an increase in treats, more gravy, and a giant water fountain that runs all day long.

DAFFY: Yes, those are the resolutions I made for YOU. My resolution is to nap more.

PATTY: I don't know how it is possible for you to nap MORE, but okay, I can live with that. If you're napping, you're not begging for food, treats, or running water.

Let's just hope for a kinder, more peaceful, less violent, less hateful, more humane year in 2019. xoxoPattyskypantshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17799925854647672151noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169722852232189496.post-67367541721399749222018-12-23T09:27:00.002-08:002018-12-23T09:27:58.118-08:00all I want fur kissmess

Dear Purina:

I am a middle-aged, "curvy" feline with a lotta smarts and discriminating taste. My mom feeds me Fancy Feast Creamy Delights Tuna Feast since she discovered a couple of years ago that this is the only thing I will eat. But, as you can see from Exhibit A and Exhibit B above, I cannot abide the stuff you put in the gravy. My mom calls this "meat" but I'm not sure. Whatever it is, it sux.

So, my mom wrote to Purina and asked them to share the recipe for the gravy because that's really all I'm interested in eating (Exhibit A & B); but (no surprise) they did not respond. My mom is a smart one and she always has a Plan B (and C and D) to find out how to make that gravy.

In the meatime, I am sending this message to you to request that you (a) either take the gray chunks out of the gravy, or (b) put waaaaaay more gravy in and take out most of the gray chunks. Then, it will be better.

Yers sinseerly,
