Happy 2nd Purrthday, Goma!

We LUV Goma and Sachie and we hope you will go to My Cat Goma and wish him a happy day! Sachie has a really neat give-away to celebrate Goma's special day: a t-shirt of her own design. It's pretty cool!

"Goma iz laik my little bruther," sez Bhu. Well, actually, Bhu, your little brother Winston and sister Thatcher live in Nashville now. We haven't heard from them in a long time. But I think they would like Goma and want him to be their little brother, too.

HAPPY PURRTHDAY GOMA!!

Springaling

These are the days when we sometimes have a 40 to 50 degree change in temperatures within twenty-four hours. We're expecting our second of the week tonight. But the Farmer's Market is open and I will take you there this weekend. It's Spring Break and rather desolate on campus, but I like it.

Bhu looks good in pink, doncha think? That's right -- Ann of Zoolatry art! "Me LUVS Ann an' Maggy an' Zoey! They iz furry, furry nice to me!" So true, Bhu!

Wings 'n Whiskas!

Another great piece of art from Ann of Zoolatry. Bhu sits in the window dreaming of having wings like the birds, flitting about from branch to branch under the quivering oak leaves, the air scented faintly by bursting blooms of daffodils. Spring is returning! xxoo Patty

Lovely Saturday for . . .

Gardening! We cleaned out the front bed and turned over the earth. We have daffodils in the back--three beds of these--and tulips in pots all over the place. We left the large kale stalks in the ground this fall and noticed today we have little kale leaves growing out all along the stalks!! Cool! Later we plant peas and snow peas!
Then off to the library. We have a most FANTASTIC library! First, the building isn't square or rectangular, it's full of art, and it has a wonderful collection of books, cds, dvds . . . everything you can imagine FREE! They also have book sales once a month and today was history book month. Mark bought "Rivers of Gold," a book about the rise of the Spanish Empire. I checked out "The Quick & Easy Ayurvedic Cookbook," "The PITA Principle (how to work with and avoid becoming a Pain in the Ass)," "New Recipes from Moosewood Restaurant," "French Women Don't Get Fat," "Crochet Designs for Kids," "Handcrafted Soap," "300 Handcrafted Soaps," "The Wild Vegetarian Cookbook," and "Amy Butler's Midwest Modern." Why the emphasis on vegetarian cookbooks? I'm not a vegetarian, but I actually have a lot of vegetarian cookbooks (none of which are in the library, ironically). Earlier this week, I was searching for a turkey recipe and noticed that most of my cookbooks were published B.M. (before microwave)!!
Mark's choices are more cerebral: "Body: The Complete Human," "Gunpowder," "The Digital Enterprise," "Inc. Yourself," and a slew of dvds "Savage Planet: Deadly Skies," "The Viking Age," "Jewel of the Earth," Savage Planet: Storms of the Century," "Sputnik Declassified," "The Suffragettes," "Billie Holiday," "Hard Times," "Krakatoa," and episodes one through three of Ken Burns' "Jazz."
We'll go through all this before the end of the week and go back for more next Saturday! All of this is well worth the $100 or so dollars we pay in property taxes earmarked for the library.
Much love and bigs hugs and supah happy spring to all!! xxoo Patty & Bhu

ChChChChanges . . .

Obviously, the title refers to the time change today, not Bhu's lifestyle! The kitteh is exhaustingly involved in a variety of relaxation techniques I wish I could adopt in my own life!! Of course, one of these is jumping on top of me at 2 am for a few head scritches. Yes, and he first yowls and, if no response, he licks my hand and, if no response, he climbs on my torso and works his way up to my ears and tickles me with his whiskers. He will NOT BE IGNORED! So, I am one person who can actually answer the question: Why was I born? A: To pet Bhu in the middle of the night! LOL

Lots of other things are going on, like my feetz is failing me. So much pain from so many ailments . . . makes life rough, but I'll get used to it. We are having such warm, warm weather this week -- in the 70's. In early March? Hmmmm. I am really busy at work when no one else has much to do.

Last night I had nightmares about fleas. UGH. xxoo Patty
