Veteran's Day!

Two pages from my father's war journals (there are four volumes filled with some of the most amazing mementoes, drawings, photos and writing). Click on the photo to enlarge it so you can read what he has to say. All the printing, drawing, and watercoloring is done by hand. The only thing that's missing from these is the emotion. He must have been freaked out!! I wonder what ever happened to William Jewell of Boise, Idaho?

My father was proud of his service and his friends treated him as if he was a great hero and I think he probably was. But combat changes your life and I wonder why we still force people to participate in it. Sweet Praline has a video clip on her blog of WWII veterans being applauded at a DC airport -- it's really cool! I don't think there is enough applause or medals big enough to express my appreciation. xxoo Patty

Wow! You really have a treasure in that journal! Have you considered publishing it?

The reaction of the people in the airport to the World War II vets just brought chills to me and tears to my eyes! I believe now, it was meant to be that my flight was delayed because I would never been able to have this experience otherwise.

Thanks for sharing the journal.

Wow, P. That is incredibly intense. Your poor daddy! But such bravery and compassion. And his drawings are wonderful, so eerie. Thank you for sharing this.
